Does anyone know when this was changed to be a typed George Allen & Unwin?
I know that it is between the 6th (1954) and 8th (1956) Impression of the second edition. I think it is the 6th Impression, but would welcome confirmation. Attach file:  Handwritten GA&U.JPG (12.11 KB)

The spine lettering did change from hand-lettered to typeset with the 6th impression (1954). The 'THE' of the jacket spine title also seems to have been strengthened at that time.

Thanks for this (very helpful as always).
 Looking at my 1970's copy, it looks like the "THE" was changed back to the first version. Anybody else able to confirm?
