Greetings all.
I am going to be in South Africa for a couple of weeks later in the year and plan to go visit Bloemfontein. I know Tolkien was only there until he was three and it does not hold as much significance as various UK Tolkien places do. I just wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction of any relevant sites for a Tolkien ‘pilgrimage’.

There is apparently a Tolkien-oriented Victorian Guesthouse there, but, having spent a good few nights in an entirely different "Victorian Guesthouse" over in Randfontein (near Joburg), I would be wary - Everything (and I mean everything) had tassles, frills, velvet and gilt edges. It was truly horrible. All this, placed right next to a fairly large tailings dump that you just KNOW chucks arsenic, uranium, cyanide and all other manner of toxic crap into the air when it is windy....
Ahhh, memories. Stu
