There's a listing on Ebay right now of a 2nd edition LOTR set (1966) with a slipcase. Was this edition ever issued with a slipcase? It looks like an older 1st edition slipcase?

Never heard of a second edition slipcased one with this dustwrapper.
I too think it is a first edition slipcase as you said.
