Eduardo mentioned the BBC Jackanory Audio CD in this post and I thought it would be useful to provide some more information on the release.

The BBC are releasing an Audio CD of a BBC TV Children's programme from the 1970s in October.

Jackanory is a UK BBC Children's TV programme, that had stories read by celebrities over a few days. The Hobbit was voted as the favourite book to appear on the programme, in a poll 0f viewers by the BBC. (https://twitter.com/TolkienBooks/status/368348073782542337/photo/1)

It was originally released on October 1st-12th in 1979 on BBC1 from 4:25 to 4:40pm.

The presenters were (from left to right in the photo)

Bernard Cribbins
Maurice Denham
Jan Francis
David Wood

I can't remember it but I would have watched it on release, so am looking forward to listening to it again as an Audio CD.
