Ran across David Miller's (The Tolkien Bookshelf on ABE) listing for the following two items: This offering is for two seperate books, 'Some Contributions to Middle-English Lexicography' by J.R.R. Tolkien, and 'The Finn Episode in Beowulf' by R.A. Williams. The Finn Episode in Beowulf is signed by J.R.R. Tolkien to the front free endpaper 'Tolkien' in his distinctive early (1920's) style, with the 3 dots below. Further down the page, in pencil, in what looks to be Tolkien's writing, 'A very bad book'. Very likely from Tolkien own library, with a small Blackwell Booksellers, Oxford sticker to the bottom of the front endpaper. Slightly browned, original cloth, Cambridge University Press 1924. This copy has some scattered foxing mainly on the half title page. Also included with this book is the offprint from the Review of English Studies, Vol. 1. No. 2 April, 1925, 'Some Contributions to Middle-English Lexicography' by J.R.R. Tolkien. Original printed wrappers, margins a little creased and slightly faded, printed by Sidgwick & Jackson, London 1925. This copy is in Very Good condition, no foxing or writing, only fault to note is the rounding of the fore edge from being incorrectly shelved, and bending around the accompanying book. An unusual opportunity to acquire two items for the discerning Tolkien Collector.
