"A postcard addressed to Lord of the Rings author JRR Tolkien has been uncovered behind a fireplace in his former Poole home as the bulldozer moved in."

I have a sneaking suspicion that Beren is hot on its trail. Quote from the article:

"He has already had offers from a Tolkien enthusiast in Belgium..."

see a bit later today on my website...

but don't believe all the media claims! OK I am interested in the fireplace, but never uttered any such amount... still you will be surprised since I will be selling some great stuff at my site in a short while ;)

The claim that the postcard is from Lin Carter seems unlikely - how would he know Tolkien was at the Miramar? The postcard is not addressed to England, just Bournemouth. And the printer 'J Arthur Dixon' is a British company not American. The tone of the note suggests a friend rather than a fan or admirer.

I agree... the handwriting does not even match Lin Carter's handwriting at all. The claim was made by the man who found the postcard. I have requested higher resolution images, but before I received anything the claim was already made...
