Maybe you're all tired about these kind of questions, but I just found this offered for a sale in Sweden (and few such items turn up around here):
The Lord of the Rings, three volumes, ninth impression 1974 George Allen & Unwin LTD, London, England. Close to new condition, never read. Price: 600 SEK (about 58 GBP) Do you reckon the price is reasonable?

For that sort of condition, £58.00 doesn't sound outrageous to me.
BTW - this was my first set of LotR. I paid around £11.00 for my set in 1976. Bearing in mind my take-home pay at that time, it seemed a lot of money!
