At least five titles will be released by all major Tolkien publishing companies early November, in advance of the December 14 debut of the first film. They include, next to the usual calendars and diaries, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Visual Companion by Jude Fisher, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Official Movie Guide by Brian Sibley, The World of the Hobbits, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Activity Book and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Photo Storybook by Paddy Kempshall.

HarperCollins Releases Hobbit Movie Cover Edition

A decade ago the traditional artistic covers of the Lord of the Rings were ditched and replaced with screenshots and new concept designs from the movie trilogy. So it comes as no surprise to learn that HarperCollins, the publisher of Tolkien's works, is releasing a movie tie in edition of The Hobbit to coincide with Peter Jackson's latest take on one of his books.

It is always exciting to see what the next Tolkien calendar will be like. As we now the last two years the calendar featured the art by Cor Blok. This year the official Tolkien calendar will be containing new and classic artwork for The Hobbit by Oscar-winning artists Alan Lee and John Howe.
