An excellent set of the 60th anniversary 4 book set of The Lord of the Rings published by HarperCollins in 2014 which comes in the publisher's original slipcase. The books and slipcase are all in like new condition, the books remain unread, the spines are tight, the pages are bright and clean with no foxing, book plates, inscriptions or other writings, they have black cloth covers with gilt stamping of the titles on the spine, the dust jackets are also in top condition, the cover art is from Tolkien's original unused illustrations. The slipcase shows no sign of shelf wear, it has gilt printing of the authors and titles on both sides and Tolkien's ring and eye device on the back. The Fellowship has a colour foldout containing pages from the Book of Mazarbul, each book also has a tipped in map at the rear of Middle-Earth at the End of the Third Age, as in the 1st edition, the Companion book (not photographed) has a colour plate in the opening pages of Tolkien's illustration of The Hill: Hobbiton across the water and some chronologies on the reverse, otherwise the books are not illustrated. For many of these sets the books were printed in China, however, this is a genuine UK set with all books printed in Italy by L.E.G.O. Spa, also included is a copy of The Lord of the Rings Souvenir Booklet commemorating twenty five years of its publication (not Photographed) published by George Allen & Unwin in 1980. Please check the photographs as they form part of the listing description, more information about Tolkien books can be found at tolkienbooks.net. With the Amazon Prime 5 season 2nd Age of middle earth series due for release later later this year I anticipate that there will be a renewed interest in The Lord of the Rings/Hobbit books, movies and all things Tolkien. The set will be wrapped in bubble wrap and posted in a box with tracking available, this is a heavy lot at around 3.5kgs.
