For you tobacco enthusiasts (you know who you are, I am amazed at how much traffic the Tobacco Guide Page gets), I just ran across this eBay auction:

A sample pipe created by an employee at Alfred Dunhill as a proposed limited edition pipe. It was never produced, so this is the only sample. Obviously made by a fan, looks very nice and comes with some interesting documentation. I'm not a tobaccoist/collector, but someone should find this interesting!

Got his request from someone, thought some discussion would help him out:

My disc 4 of the BBC LOTR set is damaged and won't play the last track. Is it possible to purchase just the one CD somewhere -- my set is in good shape and it isn't worth replacing the whole thing for one track! Thanks -- I really enjoy this production. Ian Holm is great.

Some ideas:
* The publisher might have a disc replacement policy
* eBay
* a fellow collector could help out

No matter what price tag this book ends up with, I will probably buy just a single copy for myself when they go on deep enough discount and not bother with extra copies. The signature from Christopher will be the main draw to Tolkien collectors, and there are plenty of those available for a few hundred dollars right now. I can see this book still selling on the secondary market for a few hundred dollars (probably below list) for at least 10-20 years - this is assuming they stick to the 500 copies. If they want this to generate some hype, they would have to limit it to 100 copies like the original signed deluxe Silmarillion, or perhaps even 50 copies.

I'm still ticked over the bad website operations, dropping prices, "limited" editions that are indistinguishable from trade editions, and selling wholesale to some and not others. Why pay full retail now?

Just ran across this - no affiliation with seller, no idea if price is reasonable, and no idea if this is real, but looks interesting at least.

Sellers on eBay and other sites have had this available "for pre-order" for a while now, but the book is not complete yet according to the last news I got from Doug. No updates on when it will be ready and issued, I will certainly pass on any news I can as soon as it is available!

It definitely is not available yet from the publisher.
