And the description is inaccurate. If it's a first printing of the A&U one-volume paperback (the ‘Pauline Baynes edition’) it may be a first British paperback edition, but the first paperback edition is the Ace ‘pirate’ of 1965. And it may be a first English one-volume edition, the first one-volume edition was the Dutch one of 1965.

The photographs look very much like done with care and attention. The copy in it looks excellent. Then why the need to add a provenance with such obvious nonsense in it? Makes the whole thing look fishy.

Which item?

(I think a link is missing.)

Edit:
just saw your link in the other thread. But why another thread? Why not just edit your post here?

As far as I can tell they are exactly the same images, but cropped less closely.

Have you made arrangements with Fangorn yet?

For he told me he was going to contact you, but I haven't heard anything further. And I live in Amsterdam, he doesn't. If I have to set up anything, I have to know when and what, and time is running short.

We're having our AGM a.k.a. Tolkien Day on Saturday September 12th. That, however is in 's-Hertogenbosch, about one hour by train from Amsterdam. Our custom nowadays is to start the AGM at 11 am, have a long lunch break followed by some sort of creative workshop, or quiz, or auction, before resuming the AGM, and afterwards, at about 6.30 or 7 pm we will have dinner.

But I gather you will be occupied by the IBC programme during daytime. As far as I can see it will be no great problem to organise some sort of meeting in Amsterdam (where I live) on Friday evening, or on Sunday. Even Monday (evening) would be a possibility, but I think would not be as well attended as Sunday. With the AGM on Saturday, Friday evening might not be all that attractive either to people living outside Amsterdam.

Strange thing is that almost all topics in which the newest post is more than two months old suddenly pop up as unread ... which none of them are ...

Thanks! I did remember to register before 1 August, although I didn't have time to reply here before (have been to Cumbria for a rather long weekend for Omentielva Nelya and manned Unquendor's stand at a Fantasyfeast the long weekend before that).
