Thanks. And I definitely didn't mean to start anything. Everyone on this site has been helpful and kind to me for years and I truly appreciate it. Also, I have not been able to find this, but what is the Alan Lee signed CoH going for from Harper Collins?

I'm not sure judging one's intentions or personal ethics is a proper thing to do. But being judgmental is part of the human condition. So, feeling the need to explain my prices...I have researched ebay and Abe and priced my books slightly over what I found. For example, a decent number of the super deluxe CoH that I see on ebay are priced right around $1000 so at my price I have the ability to negotiate substantially. And this is the approach I took with all of my postings. For what it's worth, I had no idea that the signed CoH or the super deluxe were still available from the publisher. This will affect future postings of said items. And to touch on what trotter said, I wouldn't think someone was unethical or a cheat if they offered me $300 for the super deluxe CoH. Most people want a deal. The thing is I can say no or counter offer, which is also the luxury of the buyer.

Is it only the CoH super deluxe that rubs you so wrong stu?

I appreciate your advice Trotter, and I have realized the situation with the CoH is not what I initially expected. But the thing is that I am not in a hurry to sell anything, and everything I have sold so far has come with some regret. The price on the CoH is the price of what it's worth to me but giving some come down room if someone wants to make an offer. Meaning if I sold it for less than 1000 I would miss the book more than the money I had in my pocket. This is the situation with most of the books, but I do not want to be unfair which is why I have posted them with a best offer attached. The interesting ones to me are the Silmarillions, as I have seem postings that sold for $200 or more. I didn't know they were worth that much, but apparently they are to some. And I actually have wanted a dummy Silmarillion for years but have not been able to buy one :) I'm hoping that this is actually just a hiatus in my collecting, but the need for cash is a little stronger than the collecting bug that bit me years ago!

Just another thought. If any of my listings interest you please send me an email as I would be willing to deal anything I am selling directly through PayPal, which could help the price as eBay charges a 10% fee on the selling price.

Thanks!

Hello all! I hope that this message finds you all well! At one time, prior to children, I was a fairly involved Tolkien collector. But now that some time has gone by and I do not have all of the resources needed to continue my collecting (this includes time!) I have decided to post a number of my books on eBay. My username on eBay is peeta84, so feel free to check out what I have! And just as a side note, none of the prices I have listed are meant to offend in any way. I tried to check around and see what the items I have listed have gone for recently and post accordingly. Another part of that is that some of my books I do not necessarily want to part with

But feel free to message me on eBay or on this site as I will be checking back, and I am completely willing to sell directly through PayPal.

Thanks!

I found it on eBay. I had been watching it and with a few days left the seller ended the listing and put it up as a buy it now for, I think, $195. I happened to see it in a search within the first 15 min of it being listed, and after a quick discussion with my wife :), snatched it right up!
It sounds like you got a pretty good deal too, paying around $100 for your British ROTKs. On top of the one that just sold, I saw one a few months ago go for over $500.

jlong, yes it is a 1/1 (though i know someone on here who would say not a 1/1/1 ) with a dust jacket that is missing the lower piece of the spine. The book is in wonderful shape with only slight rubbing to the bottom corners and the defects to the dj (price clipped, torn down the spine and fully missing the Allen and Unwin piece of the spine). But that is to say for $200 (American) i am very happy with what i bought.
And about the Hobbit movies, that was all tongue in cheek. Extremely tongue in cheek.

They all ended up going for less than it looked like they would. It still makes me that much more happy to get a ROTK 1/1 for $200! I'm still pissed (if I can say that) that there are 3 hobbit movies. They better be AMAZING!
