The Wonders of...

Having just spent a lot of money on what I think is a rare item, eBay often comes up trumps with what can only be described as What????

That seller has cropped up before. Always has the pointless photocopy of the will as a "bonus item". I think was also guilty of the horrible red Guild Hobbit in a dustjacket.

Also, spectacularly failed to notice that Beanie Babies are now worth nothing....

A Top Grade Set, whatever that means, could be very over priced.

I can't understand why this edition is nearly always listed as being 1966, every time they are listed on eBay. The seller of this copy has even included the copyright page which clearly shows it is a 1974 edition.

I agree with you, but have no real hope that the general ebay seller will figure out the difference between copyright date and impression date. If they do, likely they will chose to emphasize whichever they feel will increase the value of what they have for sale.

You have hit the nail on the head with " they will chose to emphasize whichever they feel will increase the value of what they have for sale". For the most part, this is what sellers are doing, IMHO. Some sellers are genuinely confused, many are just deceptive (I've had plenty where I have pointed out the mistake choose not to correct their auctions).
