Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, to include 'The Fellowship of the Ring' 1st edition, fourth impression November 1955, 'The Two Towers' 1st edition, second impression 1955, 'The Return of the King' 1st edition, first impression 1955. All three with original dust jackets, original red cloth and a map of Middle Earth attached at the back of each book..
The Two Towers appears to be a 3rd Impression but with a 2nd Impression dust-jacket.
J.R.R. Tolkien, 'The Hobbit: or, There and Back Again', ninth impression, second edition, George Allen & Unwin Ltd, London 1957, illustrated by the author with a full-page frontispiece. Original dustjacket with green, blue and white landscape illustration. Green cloth cover with black illustrations of dragons and mountains. The Hobbit is set 60 years prior to Tolkien's famous fantasy trilogy Lord of the Rings.
Tolkien (J. R. R., editor).- Ancrene Wisse, signed by Tolkien on front endpaper, frontispiece, bookplate, blind-stamps and library markings of the Convent of Notre Dame, Oxford, to endpaper, original cloth, lettered in gilt, 8vo, Oxford, 1962.
⁂ The Convent of Notre Dame in Oxford is based on Woodstock Road, a few streets away from Tolkien's Northmoor Road address.
Lot 444 Trotter note on Lot 444 - This is a 'blue' signature and could be an Allan Formhal's forgery. The Auction house have been contacted about this and the item has been withdrawn from sale
