It seems strange to me that Tolkien would have signed this. Has anyone seen anything like it before?

It is not possible to trust any items sold by this seller. I noticed that no one this time around was taken in by his typewrite (sic) as it did not sell.

It may not be a genuine bid. It may be a bid by a collaborator, to suggest bidding interest.
