Snapped some pics of the new version this morning, they can be viewed here: https://imgur.com/a/10RAB
Will try and get some comparison pics this weekend.

I must admit, for a set like this (which is useful information, rather than a collectable as such), I'm happy waiting. Makes no real difference to me whether I have the first impression or second. It is all printed in China, and the content is the important thing with these. Amazon will not be getting my money, and I may even wait for paperback (given I have the first edition in hand for urgent look-ups).
Those are my same thoughts Stu.
Speedyhen is cheaper but gets second preference because everyone buys from Amazon. Surely by deciding to purchase from Amazon one would only be encouraging this?
The way I see it, there’s no hurry to get the first copies. It hardly makes a difference as they’re all Chinese editions. So why the clamour to get it as soon as possible? Why not pay lesser at Speedyhen and send a message (at least when it comes to these sort of specialist books) to Harper Collins?

I have cancelled my order from Speedyhen and ordered from Amazon, as Amazon appears to be getting copies, Speedyhen doesn't.
I am very, very interested in the revised material in this book and do not want to be waiting 2-3 months until Speedyhen may get copies, but am annoyed that I have paid more for the box-set.

Amazon delivered my copy today, and the earlier issues with dust-jackets being stuck to the slipcase have been resolved, at least in my copy.
Also very pleased that the tolkienguide.com gets a reference under Collecting and Sales
