Agree with Stu. Pics will definitely help me make my final decision as I doubt I'll ever see this set in an actual store.

No problem . I will post the pictures as soon as I get the books. I am going on a trip in 4 days, if they don't arrive before that time I will post the pictures as soon as I come back.:)

This is now open to people in the UK.

With less than 3 weeks to go until the historic publication of Beren and LĂșthien, we are delighted to announce both an exclusive competition to win a rare, signed print by Alan Lee, and details of his UK tour in June.

More details here

Details on Alan Lee's UK tour and two additional dates, Liverpool and Glasgow.

Was the winner ever announced? I feel like Tolkien.co.uk always has competitions but rarely announces the winners.

We're two days out from the release of the new Deluxe HoME set. Has anybody seen actual images of it? I admit I had sent the publishers a message informing them about my feelings on the design etc. I doubt it would have made any difference. I'm just curious to see what the final product looks like since several sites have varying images.

Has anyone received this yet? I've got an e-mail from Amazon saying they're 'still trying to obtain the item', and I see it's showing as out of stock at Speedyhen and Waterstones. My initial thought was that HC had underestimated demand, and I was going to end up with a 2nd impression, but I'm now wondering if there's some sort of delay with supplying any copies.

Turambar, I too have seen it out of stock everywhere since a few days prior to release day.

Maybe they took my advice and changed the cover design a month back (I'm being facetious :)).

Some Australian booksellers are showing the release date as October and even December now

I think a delay getting them printed and bound is far more likely than them selling out. The original deluxe edition of 1,000 copies did not, as far as I am aware, sell out quickly.

I went in to my local Dymocks and was told the supplier dates show both 21 November and 1 December. The woman didn't know what the delay was about though. We shall see what the big hold-up is all about.

Well, good to know I've not just been unlucky.

On the plus side, I've just received my copy of the paperback Jemima Catlin Hobbit ... although that one is a 2nd impression!
