That’s too bad. The wraparound gold foil dragon design on the cover is nice, but, you can tell it’s cheap just from the pictures. Ah well, I should probably just get the standard one, since I mainly want a copy for my kids, and they’re just going to bang it up, anyway.
It actually isn't badly made, and the slipcase is very sturdy. But the only difference is the colour, the slipcase and ribbon marker (page block identical). So if you are cool with paying an extra £30 for that slipcase (and a bit of ribbon), it is a nice enough book. Otherwise, the standard edition definitely makes a lot more sense, IMHO.

Thanks for posting those -- looks like the postal service has not been completely kind to some of them!
Reminder that the release date for The Lay of Aotrou and Itroun in the UK is the 3rd November 2016, tomorrow.

They are all Fine or Near Fine except FoA, way better than most stuff I receive on mail!
9/10 books I receive in envelopes or cardboard boxes without substantial bubble wrap or packing material get severely damaged with bumps and several wrinkles to dust wrapper, and more. I complain and get a second copy sent, which will promptly arrived damaged as well. Therefore, I only buy from second-hand stores and specialized book sellers that are willing to send several pictures of the item beforehand and customize packaging. I guess it must be a local issue since most people seem to be receive theirs in Fine/NF condition every time.
Thanks for posting those -- looks like the postal service has not been completely kind to some of them!Yeah, sellers in the UK could package a bit better when shipping across the pond, but the dings aren't usually as noticeable, the flash on the camera really brings them all out. I can live with these in their current state, and I guess I consider myself somewhat lucky as I've only had to return/exchange one of my Deluxe editions (TftPR came with a pretty huge dent/gash on the slipcase that I was not going to live with).
Thank you!Happy to take them and share them. My bookshelf is currently more than partially hidden as my 1.5 & 4yr olds love pulling stuff anything/everything off it that they can. Well I guess my oldest is finally getting a better about leaving it along, but now his younger brother has picked up where he left off. So any chance to uncover it and appreciate it's contents while we house hunt is always appreciated.
