The J. R. R. Tolkien Companion and Guide Paperback
https://www.amazon.co.uk/J-R-Tolkien-C ... collsguid-21&linkCode=osi
This appears to be a paperback version of the book and is published on the 30th November 2017 for £40.
It is listed at 800 pages, whereas the estimate for the revised edition in September is 2400 pages, so it suggests that this is a cut-down version of the Companion and Guide.

It looks like the 3 volumes for the Companion and Guide will be issued as individual hardbacks, not paperbacks as on Amazon, on the 30th November 2017 for £40 each as well as a boxed set in September.
I saw the new Lay of Aotrou and Itroun hardback in my local bookstore yesterday and was very impressed by its quality - the slipcover even had some gilt-work going on. But in the excitement of handling it, I forgot to check where it was printed and bound.
Anyway, I went ahead and ordered it from The Nile as it was too expensive to buy from the store.

Slipcase? Did I miss something?
EDIT: Sorry, I see you said "slipcover". Did you quite like the dustjacket then, Earl?
Incidentally, I see the B&L cover is up on Amazon, in case it hadn't been mentioned...

I am interested to see what HarperCollins release for B&L, they have already said that we will get a trade edition, and I expect to also see a deluxe edition, but what about a superdeluxe and would you be interested in buying a superdeluxe edition?
I'd be interested in buying a Super Deluxe. I mean, really, the S&G Super Deluxe was a real mis-step since it wasn't a new Middle-earth release. Doesn't really make sense to have given it & not everything else the Super Deluxe treatment. Consistency & all that...

This is a Super Deluxe I would be interested in as well. I agree that S&G was not appealing (for me at least). Perhaps they were testing the waters to see if the non M-e titles would sell well in the SD format.
I'd be interested if the quality, price, production location, limitatation and content were right. I'm not sure I'd be interested in £350 / 500 copies, especially if the content is really just an aggregation of already published material with a bit of connecting filler (which may or may not be the case).
I still think the CoH SD is a wonderful book, but it was overpriced. S&G was flawed, but still has merit, though overpriced and FAR too many copies.

Yes I did indeed like the dust jacket (apologies for calling it a slipcover and confusing you) :)
I did see the Beren and Luthien cover a while ago. It will be interesting for sure to see if they release a deluxe or super deluxe for it.

Stu, I don't really follow your comments about content; surely these Super Deluxe editions are just going to have the same content as the standard release? They're never going to add any special content; all you're going to get is fine binding (you'd hope) & a CT/artist signature(s). Do you just mean you want to wait & see what the B&L content actually is?
