Don't know, but for those who care: this was published in 1948 & contains four Tolkien pieces...

Goblin Feet
"Riddles from THE HOBBIT"
"Roads Go Ever Ever On"
A Lullaby for Bilbo Baggins

Goblin Feet has (& had by 1948) been anthologised many times; but other than in The Hobbit itself would any of this material ever have been published elsewhere prior to 1948? Seems quite early.

A Lullaby for Bilbo Baggins?
Don't know this or the late version of Road?

Certainly interesting. Seems to be commonly available. Originally had a dust jacket.

I have a ex-library (US military) copy with a pretty well preserved DJ; book is okay with usual markings & some reinforced tape work going on. Decent overall & only cost £5. Thought it was interestingly early but don't recall it being discussed on here or elsewhere...

It is known as 'Sing all Ye Joyful', from The Hobbit. You have it a few times over I imagine.

Sing all ye joyful, now sing all together!
The wind’s in the tree-top, the wind's in the heather;
The stars are in blossom, the moon is in flower,
And bright are the windows of Night in her tower.

Dance all ye joyful, now dance all together!
Soft is the grass, and let foot be like feather!
The river is silver, the shadows are fleeting;
Merry is May-time, and merry our meeting.

Sing we now softly, and dreams let us weave him!
Wind him in slumber and there let us leave him!
The wanderer sleepeth. Now soft be his pillow!
Lullaby! Lullaby! Alder and Willow!
Sigh no more Pine, till the wind of the morn!
Fall Moon! Dark be the land!
Hush! Hush! Oak, Ash, and Thorn!
Hushed be all water, till dawn is at hand!

And it's gone. I think I should get comission for that sale.
