Mîms Klage [The Complaint of Mîm the Dwarf]

Sep 30

Hi all,

Does anybody on these boards own Klett-Cotta's anniversary volume Das erste Jahrzehnt 1977–1987: Ein Almanach? I am looking for a scan of pages 302-305, containing Tolkien's poem 'The Complaint of Mîm the Dwarf' in German (unpublished in English). If somebody could help me out with this, that'd be very much appreciated!

Can you tell me more about this poem ? It's the first time I heard of it, especially as it is unpublished in English.

Many thanks to all for offering your help, Kiola sent me the scans yesterday, for which I am very grateful!

Druss, you can find more information under the entry The Complaint of Mîm the Dwarf in Hammond and Scull's Reader's Guide. It's a short poem accompanied by a more extensive prose text, both only published in German translation.

I've bought a copy of the book on AbeBooks and share some pics of it here:

Thanks for sharing the images of your copy! [I've removed the one image of the page with Tolkien's work on it, as that is still under copyright]

Urulókë Are you sure the other images are also out of copyright, how do we know?

Images of the book covers, title page, table of contents, and copyright info I consider to fall into fair use for works still under copyright.

It would be good to credit the artist for the gryphons that appear on the TOC if possible though?
