I finally got a dispatch email. Took about 6 days total including the weekend.

I also got a dispatch notice today. I learned from customer service that Exported means that "Your order is "exported" to us from the supplier to be packaged and "shipped" to you"

The wording confused me a bit, but I took it to mean that they don't do the fulfillment themselves.

Hmm, I took it to mean "exported from web platform to fulfilment system". Exactly the kind of thing you wouldn't normally show on the customer's view. The website is absolute garbage, though. I think they are owned by a private equity group, so seems like the usual MO.

Shame. Thanks for the info. I have had 2 orders now for 2 deluxes (Gawain being the other one) with fantastic packaging.

Guess it depends on which employee packs the book (or do they pay more attention with the more expensive books - who knows).

Possibly. I bought Sir Gawain & the Green Knight (deluxe) and the new LR/H boxset previously from them and don't recall there being no packing material. It seems to be the norm for most of these general book traders to send standard editions with little or none though; AGreatRead seem no different unfortunately. And that's always a worry with these HC paper-fronted jackets.

Hello, everyone!
My first post on this forum.

This might be of interest for anyone who ordered from Goldsboro:

I send them an email regarding my order and they promptly replied and processed my order.
They mentioned that there were delays due to several reasons.
The process email stated that my book will be sent within the next 5 days.

Is it true that the image that's used as the cover of the standard edition (and included as a print in the collector's edition) doesn't actually appear within the pages of the book itself?? I was looking at the list of plates someone posted last week (their post said 'we need The Silmarillion in this style' in bold.) I'm referring to the Numenorean ships drawn by Alan Lee

It is true. If you take a look at Alan Lee's interview posted on this site, he says "There are six interior colour illustrations and one more used on the cover, and as a print in the deluxe edition."

I must be a noob but for the life of me I can’t spot the difference between these two:

https://www.bookdepository.com/Unfinis ... &qid=1602002045985&sr=1-2

https://www.bookdepository.com/Unfinis ... &qid=1602004847304&sr=1-3

Their ISBNs are different but both are Harper Collins deluxe slipcases hardbacks.

They are the standard illustrated edition, and the deluxe collector's edition.

In the same order as your links:

Standard edition
ISBN-13: 9780008387952
ISBN-10: 0008387958

Deluxe edition
ISBN-13: 9780008387969
ISBN-10: 0008387966
Start of description says "Sumptuous, 40th anniversary collector's edition of this collection of tales" and last paragraph says "This special collector's edition is printed on superior quality paper, features a unique special binding and ribbon marker and is housed in a custom-made, fully illustrated slipcase."

Ugh thanks. I feel foolish now. I got thrown off also by the fact that the site lists another hardback (with a picture).

https://www.bookdepository.com/search? ... chSortBy=pubdate_high_low

I noted now that this is the Houghton Mifflin edition.

Right, I understood that as the Numenorean ships to be one of of the six inside, rather than six in the book, plus that one as well.

What Alan is saying (and what the book has) is:
  • six interior illustrations
  • in addition, a seventh illustration that only appears on the dustjacket cover of the standard and the foldout poster in the deluxe.
