I also find people that put on books on top of other books that are properly shelved to be just as bad. They're supposed to be vertical, and supported, with nothing on top of them. If one is running out of space, either consider how much space future purchases will take up, or get more shelves. Don't put your items at risk - but hey, it's their money, right?
