So Clyde Kilby writes in his short book on Tolkien, "A copy of Perelandra given by Tolkien to friends contains one of those equivocal notes characteristic of him. On the jacket he has written: 'A bottle of sound vintage (?) I hope!'" (76-77).

I think Kilby's transcription is a bit off.

I was wondering if anyone knew what this note actual says. Thanks.
