Same rumours/accusations surfaced in the UK recently too; in regard to working conditions (generally) that is. I still buy occasionally from Amazon. I just think, for a book company (historically), they've really abandoned all pretence at caring about book matters: shambolic listings; incorrect copyright, ISBN, & publication dates for literally every Tolkien title you could choose to look up; poor packing of books for transit; &, it turns out, ain't paying very much UK tax either.

Didn't anyone see the documentary on TV (in the UK) yesterday, in regard to Amazon working conditions & employment practises?
