This is starting to get quite annoying: how do we know what price these "Best offer accepted" auctions are going for? It's getting hard to note prices when it's this untransparent. Anyone any the wiser?

The History of Middle Earth Deluxe 3 Volume Edition - Limited to 1000 Copies
Sold for: £1,100.00
Best offer accepted

Okay wellinghall, on you go...

That History of Middle Earth Deluxe 3 Volume set sold for 1,199 dollars (about 800 GBP). If you look at the item directly or if you are just looking at it in your watch list you will not see the accepted sell price, but if you do a completed item search the correct sell price will show up before you click on the item. Just search for "History of Middle Earth Limited Copies" in completed listings and you will see what I mean. Yes, it is a pain, but it is a way to find out what a best offer accepted item sold for.

Tried this on ebay.co.uk and ebay.com but still do not see the Best Offer price

No, it doesn't come up (Edit: as with Trotter) when I do that either; as I've previously tried this (--see my previous post Ebay: Best Offer Price Visibility). It just has the "£1,100" scored through. It's green, so I know it sold; but no other price is visible. (This is before you click on it --see image below.)

Cheers for posting that up. (Apologies for meddling with your posted image --I reduced the size as it was really wide on my screen compared to the posts above it, & I hate scroll bars! ) As was mentioned in the other thread, it seems to be important what you are accessing the internet with --laurel said when he used eBay Mobile or Kindle the final price was visible (--and you're using your iPad, yes?) Bloody annoying either way.

I have started working on a tool to help fix this problem. You can run a quick and dirty test at the following URL to see what price an item actually sold for (best offer or not) as long as eBay still has it in their database (90 day window). I will be adding a lot of bells and whistles over the next few days.

Thanks Urulókë! I tried that HoME set too, & got the price as Trotter posted. I tried another item though & it didn't work...

Item number: 370706810228

could not find a completed eBay item with the item number 370706810228.

It finished in early March & is still there to be viewed...
