Angles and Britons. O’Donnell Lectures. Cardiff: University of Wales Press, 1963. First Edition. Hardcover, 168pp. with pullout map and other maps. Very rare volume. Book is in Very Good condition. Clean interior, no markings inside, some foxing to page edges, corners slightly bumped, gilt lettering on spine has faded, sound and stiff boards. Dust Jacket is in Good condition: not price clipped, some chips to corners and top and bottom of spine, some fading to spine and foxing throughout. In generally nice shape and placed in a BroDart cover to protect it from further deterioration. A collection of essays on the “Celtic elements in the population, language, and rural customs of England.” Included in the volume are the following lectures: English and Welsh by J.R.R. Tolkien English-Welsh Loan-words by T.H. Parry-Williams Angles and Briton in Northumbria and Cumbria by Kenneth Jackson The Welsh, their Language and Place-names in Archenfield and Oswestry by B.G.
