Tolkien Studies: An Annual Scholarly Review, volume IX, arrived yesterday. Despite being delayed until September, it only runs to 150 pages of text - none of them primary texts by JRRT - yet weighs in at a whopping $60 + $10 p&p. Yet the book reviews sectiion has the gall to describe another book as "slim" at 245pp and "expensive" at $53!

My advice is to think carefully before buying this one, folks ...

Still two left! --& they've replaced Doug already, in any case.

Hmmm... 150 pgs is indeed quite small; sort-of back to vol. I size. I have volumes I - VII, but haven't bought XIII yet. Not sure. In fact I've been contemplating not buying these for a few years now, but always end up buying. Maybe I'll quit now...
