Hardback Silmarillion Coming February 2024

HarperCollins is releasing a hardback Silmarillion to match the set of H/LOTR re-prints that were released last summer.
According to HarperCollins
- "Another Silmarillion is being published on 1 February 2024 in response to requests to add to our series of unjacketed hardcovers. (It will match the latest slightly smaller editions, not those from 2013.) The listing will go up on Amazon tonight. ISBN 978-0-00-866914-0. I’m not sure this image does it justice – it’s going to be very shiny with two foils!"
Oh, that's a surprise! I was kind of expecting a new boxed set of The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings (of these editions, that is) to come out... pretty much anytime!
These editions are known to have nice covers, though the quality as a book (as well as any other features) seem to leave something to be desired. It depends what you're looking for, really. It would be nice if these better prodiced, though then they'd likely cost more. I kind of see these as a 'mid' (not to use new internet speak) entry point: they're nicer than paperbacks (due to them being hardcovers) but not quite as nice as other hardcovers (cover art & design aside).
Where I'm at, at least, they cost a bit more than paperback editions, and a bit cheaper than other Tolkien hardcovers.
In short: I see these as fantastic gifts to get someone new to Tolkien, would like something nicer than a paperback (without spending hardback prices) for example. Of course, who am I to tell fellow Tolkien collectors how to use their books?!
