A set of LotR which looks exactly the same as the set in this box went unsold the other day - the price was £4.50. Okay, that's a fluke; but a good set can be had for not a lot of money. Add a Silm for around the same price (not hard to do at book fairs) and a copy of TH, and I reckon we're being asked to pay over £300.00 for the box.

Too rich for my blood!

Something else (I find) quite interesting is the mention of the (possibly) re-priced 4th impression of The Silmarillion. I know Deagol lists this as including either a 4th or 5th impression, but I'd be interested in hearing from anyone with this set (Deagol, Beren...) what copy of The Silmarillion their set includes, and whether the printed price has indeed been re-priced or not? And, if so, what is the nature of this re-pricing: price sticker, colour, 'GA&U' etc etc

As for the value: I have a note of one being sold (on eBay) in February 2007 for £475. If I remember correctly the opening price was similarly high, and I think the winning bidder was one of only a few bidders; perhaps the only one. So I think it might go for this price...

I just checked the set I have and it includes a 4th Impression Silmarillion with the regular £4.95 printed price (no repricing).

Mine has a 5th impression and has been price clipped, so no idea about the price

I didn't wanted to start a whole new topic on what probably will be a short subject:

I found this on Ebay today, but I have never seen it before.
A 2007 Hobbit, with slipcase. I guess it is a custom made slipcase, but it looks quite good... What do you think?

Incidently (just for information) -the original box set under discussion does indeed have a re-priced 4th impression of The Silmarillion. Looks like there is one taker at £400 in the auction as well!
