Hello,
I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me where I might find a list of points to identify US Houghton Mifflin first edition/first impression dust jackets for all 3 books in The Lord of the Rings trilogy ('54, '55, '56). The books have been confirmed however I have not been able to find dust jacket information anywhere... Many thanks in advance, Jennifer ps: wow 33 people viewed my post and no one has any suggestions as to how I might verify what I have? Yikes. Not even the name of a book I could buy with this information in it? Does it exist at all? Thanks for anyone willing to assist!

Hi Jeniveve - the info. about the dust jackets of the HM 1st ed. LotR is quite involved. Steve Frisby made a masterly study of the variations in the first US edition, back in 1999; including much about the dust jackets. This was published in a magazine called _The Tolkien Collector, written and published by Wayne Hammond and Christina Scull. Here's a link to their page.
