Artist / Calligrapher who redrew the maps for The Lord of the Rings for Harper Collins. Most Lord of the Rings maps since 1993 in Harper Collins editions are Stephen's version. Some lettering in those editions was also done by Stephen. He worked on the maps in cooperation with Christopher Tolkien, who drew the originals. The redrawing was done because the lettering for local place names was too small to read in many editions up to that point.
