Tolkien book auctions :: April 23 - April 29, 2010
There are a few more interesting live auctions for Tolkien books coming up in the next few weeks. An interesting and artistic custom rebind is the new highlight for this set of auctions, in my mind.

Karten. 423; 352; 416 S. Rote Olwdbde. mit OU. (Stellenweise Kanten oder Ecken etw. bestossen, Umschlage tls. Rckn. etw. gebraunt, tls. Rd. knittrig u. rissig, tls. kl. Abrisse am Rucken unten, Bd. Bd. 2 im oberen Eck mit rotem Farbfleck). Alle Bande im ersten Druck der ersten Auflage, mit den Originalumschlagen. [1956]. The Return of the King. Third Impression. [1957]. Maps bound in at rear of each volume. The three volumes finely bound multiple color on-laid and in-laid morocco with the design forming a panoramic landscape depicting Middle Earth as envisioned by the binder M. Hollander. Flow of the artwork is consistent whether the books lay side by side with their upper boards showing or fully opened displaying front and rear boards simultaneously, when displayed together all three volumes show a continuous scene.
