This wonderful new book about JRR Tolkien's younger brother will be published soon and publishers ADC Books will be hosting a special Tolkien day for all.

The official book launch and "doors open" will be at 2pm with drinks, refreshments, buffet, and a wonderful large board display of material that was included in the book. Chris Tolkien, Hilary's grandson will be attending (and bringing some pieces, to show too and he will be happy to sign copies of the book and chat to everyone. The book is a biography based on the letters, diaires, notes and photographs of Hilary Tolkien, that sheds light on this until now less well-known figure and the Tolkien & Suffield family background. Edited by long-standing Tolkien Society members Angela Gardner and Neil Holford; they too will be present to sign copies and there will also be a presentation about the book during the launch event.

During the launch event the folk group Tinkercuss will be performing from 5pm

Please note that to cover the costs of the event and booking the group a small £5 entrance fee is being charged on the door, however this £5 is offset against the cost of buying the book. Therefore for anyone who has purchased an advanced copy or buys a copy on the day there will be no cost.

Also on the book launch day the Three Farthing Stone Smial will welcome Smial members from any Smial to an extraordinary gathering of Tolkien enthusiasts in the Redesdale Hall at noon.
