Joy Hill has read Boorman's letter Letter from John Boorman to Joy Hill • 15 June 1970 (#2074)[1] to Tolkien over the phone, and Tolkien hopes Boorman is now feeling better and looks forward to meeting him. He will be away for most of July but near the end of the month would be a good time to plan to meet. Joy thinks Tolkien was pleased that the film would not be animated. Joy also is hoping that Boorman will visit her in the London offices of George Allen & Unwin, to hear as much as possible about the film plans. She mentions that Tolkien gets up to two hundred fan letters a week that she has to deal with, and many of them are asking about the film project. United Artists has told her she's not allowed to answer any questions about the film, and she gets submissions and phone calls from actors and agents. She forwards them all to United Artists. Joy has discovered she has a mutual friend with John - Shiela Lally at the BBC.
