I own the entire Mike Makras chess set. I was wondering if anyone had an estimate as to what this is worth. All piece are in mint-condition.
Also have: Bilbo and Frodo bookends The Hobbit-hole planter 10 inch Gandolf (2 different) 10 inch Smaug If anyone has any information on this set, please let me know.

Hi Keith,
I'm not sure of the worth, but I believe I may have just purchased one of the pieces from a set - it's a 5" Bilbo Baggins - he's clay like most of Makras' works, looks exactly like the 7.5", but doesn't have a signature to be found - Makes me think he may have been part of the chess set; Does that sound like one of the pieces? I gave $62 for the single figure on Ebay, if it turns out to be one of the chess pieces, the entire set should be worth a fortune! Oh, he's painted in that bronze/black combo - I can take a picture if you think you could confirm... Oh, btw, that 10" Gandalf is going for $199 right now on Ebay. Later, Adam

I had a complete set and lost them in a fire at the time of purchase they were worth twenty five hundred dollars. I have been trying to re- create the set but makras cant sell or produce the product anymore because of a legal issue with the tolkien family must be a licensing thing . I have been buying pieces for years they range from 45 to 125 on the smaller pieces and 75 to 200 on the larger pieces I hope that helps If you know anyone who is selling pieces please let me know. I will have another chess set for my study again one day even if its one piece at a time

Keith, hey I saw your poston here about the chess set and recently have begun collecting Mike Makras LOTR/Hobbit figures. Any chance you are willing to sell a piece or 2? I'd love to make you an offer.
