As far as I know, there's no evidence that Tolkien worked on the site.

I think I'm right in saying that there is written evidence that he didn't visit the site; although this doesn't stop the site, and every other tourist attraction within thirty miles, claiming that he did.

Oh, I bought it last month for ca. US $60, slightly more than this one offered for US $49.95. Yep, it's a good price.

I should have waited a little longer...

This is one of four POME that i know of up for auction, and this one and the one Uruloke posted are the only priced copies. Now i know it's a question as old as time on this site, and probably run into the ground, but what does an intact price do to the value of POME since it had a print run in the 2000's and as far as i can calculate only 2 out of around 8 offered this year have had a price. i also saw one that was price clipped somewhere...
The unpriced copies have been going for around 250 pounds, i'm curios to see what the priced copies go for...
And Stu, i'm curious how much your priced copy feels like it's worth after bringing the Lotus home
Thanks everyone

There is just no sensible justification for PoME going for £250+ & MR (now) trading at comfortably under £100 --although I've no doubt it will sell for this kind of price, prices have been dropping for PoME and WotR in recent times. The pulping story is a myth; David Brawn has confirmed this. Your observation about there being more unpriced copies is what I've seen too. Priced copies are definitely less common (--on eBay at least). I don't have either PoME or WotJ, so this is why I'm so narked at these high prices! (--they've got to keep dropping...)

P.S. I intend holding out for a copy for under £200. Quite a few have gone for less in recent auctions.
