Was the RRP £250 for the 1998 Silmarillion? Was it (like Super Deluxe copies now) available for less than this at all? i.e. when HarperCollins discount. Did this happen?

IIRC the price for the Silm was £100.00 The 3-volume LotR was £250.00 - too much for me at the time. I remember seeing two of them for sale years later, in Forbidden Planet, for £150.00 So I snapped one up. Wish I'd gone for both of them, now.

Oh, well.

Most of the books are Guild Pubilshing, but they seem to be in good condition. And for £ 15 it' a nice lot ............

Yeh, I was just about to post this up too. Not sure if anyone here is really interested in a pile of book club editions --but it's a fair pile of books, all in great condition, as you say, for much cheapness!

There is a comment on the Deluxe Silmarillion on ebay.

"just have lusted after this book for some time and am willing to pay top price."

It is a nice book
