Hi everyone, I'm hoping that someone here can help me identify one of my Tolkien posters. Its from the late 60s and Its written in the Elvish language. At the bottom left in small print it says "The first advertisement in the Elvish Language" Then at the bottom right it says "Caedmon Records" Thank you

If someone can translate the poster for me , Id really appreciate it ...

Here is one of the others from the same time period .. My favourite
" The Tree Woven Lands of Middle Earth " 1967 By Steve Sachs

If you have a copy of the Lord of the Rings, look in Appendix E for the table entitled The Angerthas, to try and translate your poster.

I am not very good at these translations, but I think the first five lines are

New
Record
New
Book
J.R.R. Tolkien

I am going it to leave it your or others to translate the rest of the poster, as I am not convinced I am right

First question: that is not an Elvish language. It's just English language written with runes (cirth. More specifically: angerthas).

It is something like:

nw rekord
nw bookh
JRR TOLKIEN
speeks and
I z set to
my uuzek

I write a double e, o and u to long vowels.

I hope it will be helpful.

Thanks Mandos for translating the runes!

Normalized to English spelling, it seems the runes would then say:

New
Record
New
Book
J.R.R. Tolkien
Speaks and
Is set to
Music
