I recently saw the new version of Wayne G. Hammond and Christina Scull's The Lord of The Rings A Reader's Companion in my local bookshops in England with this cover

I have not had a chance to look at the book, but the physical size of the book looks a lot bigger than the previous paperback

and the original Hardback.

Does anyone have this book and know if it has been changed at all, or is it just much bigger text?

I haven't examined the text at all and am not sure if any of the text has been revised.

But as to physical size. It is indeed quite a bit larger than the earlier edition. It measures 7.75 Inches x 5 Inches x 2 Inches and has 894 Numbered Pages.

It matches the New Children of Hurin, 3 Vol Lord of the Rings, Alan Lee Illustrated Hobbit and the History of the Hobbit Paperbacks (8 Paperbacks in all) - All published on the same day.

Thanks Remy, the White Paperback is also 894 pages with a small font, so this copy must have a larger typeface, I think I will get a copy.

Although the new HarperCollins trade paperback of the Reader's Companion is still largely the same typesetting as the original hardcover and mass market paperback editions, it does contain a number of corrections and additions, enough that, with the change of format, it can be called a new edition. We couldn't add everything: the publisher's budget wouldn't allow significant resetting, and we wanted to avoid altering page breaks as that would affect the index. Unfortunately, a few new errors were introduced in editing and typesetting, as we explain on our website (http://mysite.verizon.net/wghammond/addenda/readers2.html). We're now posting addenda and corrigenda to both editions.
