Look at the third signature from the bottom in Beren's article.

The autograph which started it all... it was the first fake signature that appeared on a website claiming to be a true signature. This one has been seen many, many times reproduced (especially on cut cards)

Thanks, Trotter - and, it's as well for potential buyers to remember this caveat, also from Beren's page -

"Always remember that Tolkien did not autograph many books and most of the authographs can be found on UK editions, seldom they are seen on US editions (allthough there are exceptions). Even the most genuine looking authograph could be a fake in the end, so buying signed books stays a tricky business."
