The secretary of St. Andrews University wrote a letter to Tolkien confirming their wish for him to deliver the Andrew Lang Lecture, they hope that Tolkien is willing. These lecture usually take place in November or December and concern Andrew Lang and his work. A small stipend of £30 is payable.
