While Tolkien is at Bedford for Army training R.W. Reynolds writes to him commenting on the poems Tolkien sent him. Among them were 'You & Me and the Cottage of Lost Play', 'The Shores of Faery', 'Kôr: In a City Lost and Dead', and 'The Princess Nî' are mentioned by Reynolds. Reynolds says that he finds echoes of Icelandic sagas, William Morris, Rudyard Kipling, and Walter de la Mare.
