Tolkien continues to talk about the movie he and Edith sawsee also Carpenter #94a: Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to Christopher Tolkien • 7 January 1945 (#1404) and Carpenter #94c: Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to Christopher Tolkien • 15 January 1945 (#1406)[1] remarking that his “mind and heart” are still thinking of it. He says that it has the qualities of
a fairy story, while being truthful. He notes reading Martindale's pamphlet the previous night.

He mentions that the Lewis brothers were in “depths of gloom” as Maureen Moore (staying with them at the Kilns) had given birth to a son. Tolkien, Dr. Havard, and Charles Williams took delight in showing them a photograph of what they had to look forward to.
