A response to a fan who asked about the use of their maiden nameWe believe that this ladies maiden name was Hallas, see The Lord of the Rings, Appendix A. p. 1015[1] in The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien explains that it was entirely coincidental and refers her to Somerset House if she wants to research her maiden name further.
