TCG Letter #1717

From
J.R.R. Tolkien
To
Leslie Megahey
Date
20 February 1968
Type
Autograph Letter Signed
Transcript
Complete
Tolkien replies to Leslie Megahey's letter thanking him for his letter. He includes a page of "specimens" of his Tengwar per Megahey's request for an example of 'Tolkien in Oxford' which they hope to use in the opening of the film 'Tolkien in Oxford' from the BBC. Tolkien offers the specimens but also suggests that Leslie look at Donald Swann's Songbook, published as The Road Goes Ever On, which has some better examples in "ornamental Elvish script".
