Wayne Hammond and Christina Scull note that the Oxford University Press sends to "Simonne d’Ardenne, and possibly Tolkien, proofs of An Edition of the Liflade ant te Passiun of Seinte Iuliene", connected to d'Ardenne's B.Litt. thesis.J.R.R. Tolkien Companion and Guide: Chronology, p. 191[1] d'Ardenne mentions Tolkien in a prefatory note"I am deeply indebted for assistance from the beginning of my work on this text, and especially during the revision of the glossary and grammar."[2] and in correspondence says that Tolkien should have been noted as a joint-editor of the volume.
