Gordon replies to Tolkien's letter Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to E.V. Gordon • 3 to 11 June 1936 (#1824)[1] asking about the vivas which will be held in London on 12 June.
Wayne Hammond and Christina Scull note that Tolkien "will not be concerned with vivas until the last two years of his appointment."
Tolkien will be in Manchester on 26 June to sign documents with Gordon. Gordon is sorry that Tolkien will be unable to stay for the weekend.
