TCG Letter #1921

From
Mabel Day (Early English Text Society)
To
J.R.R. Tolkien
Date
2 June 1937
Type
Unknown
Transcript
Unknown
On 2 June, Mabel Day had reported to the Early English Text Society that their edition of the Ancrene Riwle had met on 27 May. They recommended that the edition should be printed (as Tolkien suggested), line by line. The lead committee however feel this would be wrong and ask her to contact Tolkien to seek his reasons why he feels this way. She writes to him on this day asking for clarification. The committee's stance is that to do this there would be a significant increase in costs.
