(did you mean Carpenter's Letter #219?)

TCG Letter #219 / Carpenter Letter #94

From
J.R.R. Tolkien
To
Christopher Tolkien
Date
28 December 1944
Type
Unknown
Transcript
Partial
Tolkien is happy to get so many letters from Christopher, and is very pleased that the third batch of Ring material has gotten to Christopher and that he likes it. It will be a while before he can send further chapters... in the meantime the weather at Christmastime was lovely, where Tolkien was able to see Hoarfrost for only the third time in his life. A neighbor has mentioned some events in Greece, "the home of democracy" and Tolkien vents that Greece was rather more a collection of dictatorships and military monarchies.

In the 2023 revised edition of Letters, Tolkien also briefly talks about some unusual weather in Birmingham and what people there thought of it.
